When did they show Dawn of the Dead?

I didn't see one clip of that movie anywhere.

i was confused by that also, i have seen terror in the aisles many, many times and nowhere did i see dawn of the dead...maybe they meant night of the living dead?

reply

I would guess that's correct, they meant Night Of The Living Dead and not Dawn Of The Dead - I just watched it again this past weekend so I'm pretty sure on this one.

(Update: Well I just watched it again last night and, indeed the credits do say "DAWN OF THE DEAD". So who knows? Maybe it IS in there somewhere?)

Wait a minute... who am I here?

Good question. I have Dawn of the Dead on DVD & have seen it several times and nowehere in this movie was there a clip from it, yet it appears in the credits. Another poster said they may have mixed it up with Night of the Living Dead, but both Night & Dawn appear in the credits so that seems unlikely. I have to wonder if there is an alternate version to this one.

Could it possibly be this clip that I never knew where it came from??? As the opening credits are rolling, the clip that it shows right before you see the movie theater and Donald Pleasance says, "There's no question about it, some terror films go too far". A woman is screaming and there is (what appears to be a killer" behind a sheet or something with glass breaking. Maybe that's it. I know every single movie on there, but never knew what that one was.

The clip you refer to is actually from 'Eyes of Laura Mars' starring Faye Dunaway and a young Tommy Lee Jones.

This confused me at first and I've watched this movie several times over the years. You see DAWN OF THE DEAD is my favourite movie of all time. I know it inside and out. And like I've said I've also seen TERROR IN THE AISLES many times.

It isn't there. Perhaps it was at some point and got cut out but still ended up in the credits.

Apparently, the "Terror in the Aisles" movie had to be cut by the studio to avoid an 'X' rating by the MPAA.

When "Dawn of the Dead" was released in 1978, it had been released unrated because the distributors were certain it would receive an 'X' rating.

Also, "Ms. 45", the Abel Ferrara movie, received an 'X' originally, and was cut for an 'R' version. Two brutal rape scenes were cut slightly.

Supposedly, in the original cut of "Terror in the Aisles", footage was used from "Dawn of the Dead" (likely the famous shotgun blast to the head sequence), and uncut footage from "Ms. 45", as well as a couple of other shots that (puzzlingly) came from other 'R' rated fare.

I guess the MPAA had a good memory about what wouldn't have passed with 'R' before, and wouldn't let it go then, either. Also, I think it was just too much gore and sex (from many different movies) all in ONE movie.

So, in the end, they toned it down a bit.

This, I believe, is the explanation for why "Dawn" was credited, but not shown.

I just saw "Terror in the Aisles" again, and I don't see "Dawn", either.

There actually is a clip of Dawn Of The Dead but only in the TV film version.

Towards the end of the movie there is a clip of the guy laying in bed turning into a zombie.

There is also a clip of The Deer Hunter WAR sequence in the unedited version with the an additional audio intro from Donald Pleasence.

Thanks
