I'm a friend of Sara Connor, I want to kill her. Can I see her please?

Lol, but seriously, what I want to ask is, did anyone else wonder why the police just kept shooting at the terminator? I mean, wouldn't it have become obvious at some point that he was impervious to bullets?

Yes and no.

I don't think "cyborg from future" is anything any of them could guess that's what they're dealing with in the heat of the moment. Except for Traxler and Lance Hendriksen maybe... I know there's a deleted scene where Traxler tells Reese to "do whatever you have to do" to keep Sarah alive before he dies from his wounds. But as for the rest of the police station.... all you know is that there is a man gunning down your fellow officers. And for some reason, he hasn't gone down yet. Don't know how or why, but all you know is that you need to try and stop him. I can see why they would each at least want to take their shot. I mean, that's what they're supposed to do as an officer, right? Engage in the threat and not run away.

Yes, that makes sense. And it's pretty much what I thought also. But it sure took a while in the police station shootout, before one cop thought to try using a larger caliber firearm in a shotgun, as opposed to just a sidearm like the others. However, he only got one noticeable shot off on it. Then the other two main police officers in the movie thought to try larger style automatic weapons. But after all was shot and and done, the terminator only had one noticeable bullet hole in his chest near the end of the shootout. Then when he hopped the rail outside, his shirt was spotless, lol. Those movie producers were kind of dense to say the least. He should have been riddled with bullet holes.

See also, the North Hollywood shootout of 1997. Cops put a lot of rounds into the armored suspects over a lot more minutes... I mean. they could see the armor but nobody made sense of a situation while the initial few MINUTES of gunfire were underway (Half hour or more till it got sorted).

Cops in this movie were in a desperate and relatively short situation.
