Who was your favorite actor?

I just saw this on cable. I'd forgotten how much I loved this film. It wasn't Oscar worthy, by any stretch, but it sure was fun. (Probably because the suburban high school I attended was very different than the one portrayed in the movie. I couldn't imagine that a high school like this actually existed...so, an interesting bit of fantasy for me.) I especially loved Richard Mulligan's character, Mr. Gower. (And yes, I cried years ago when I heard of his death. What a great comedic actor.) Of course I liked Nick Nolte's Mr. Jurel, because Nolte is a great actor, and he was so hot. HAHAHAHA! He really was. I remember having a giant crush on him for several years after this movie. (I think I watched it for the first time on HBO a couple of years after its theatrical release. I was going through puberty then...hahahaha...but even watching it as an adult now, I still think he was pretty damned sexy.)

I also really enjoyed Judd Hirsch. Love that guy. I don't think there's anything he's been in that I haven't enjoyed.

I think the one false note (in terms of casting) was Ralph Macchio. He wasn't untalented, but he hadn't learned the art of subtlety by then. He wasn't believable & I found his characterization of that kid really annoying. Thankfully, his role was limited.

So, who did you like the best?
