I felt sorry for Shirley Jones in this movie. LaDonna Carey was an annoying shrew who it was hard to feel sympathy for. The only likable thing she did was to emotionally blackmail the Tennesee governor to promise to help her family.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.
