First time ever watching this movie and...........

Just as i expected it to be. just as great like the reeve movies all of them, and just as good like superman returns and smallville. supergirl is one of the best movies i ever seen, its sad and funny that movies from the 70's, 80's and 90's are better than almost all the crap movies that comes out lol. they failed in comparison. and yes supergirl 1984 is better than man of steel and blows that cbs crap out the water.

:)

I love this movie, almost as much as the first Reeve films. I wish there was a Supergirl II after it.

They planned at least 2 more but because it flopped they did not bother, main reasons it flopped was they edited the hell out of the US version so it made no sense so got bad reviews also they had issues with the distributors

reply

And is there a complete version or just deleted scenes ?

reply

Please... it flopped because it was a horrible movie! The movie wasn't even shown to critics ahead of time, an obvious sign there's trouble. Then the word of mouth was so awful by people who had seen it, that business dropped off significantly after the first week, when it was actually #1 for the week. The deleted scenes aren't why the movie flopped/bombed/crashed and burned, but I love it when people say that's why LOL!

Can you imagine someone saying "Well, I'm not going to see Supergirl because I hear it was poorly edited?" I remember when the movie came out and there was no enthusiasm at all for it, even the commercials and trailer looked dull.

reply

I liked the movie. Critics are more subjective than the audience, actually.

And I respect that some people really like the Supergirl movie. What kind of annoys me is when some people, not you, EddGrayRo, but others, suggest that the movie wasn't well-liked or was a flop because scenes were deleted. As a man who's seen 3 different versions of the film, trust me when I say that the longest version of Supergirl is no better than the shortest version. The deleted scenes are just more of the same, so if you didn't like the 'official' version, you're not going to like the longer version.

reply

I understand now. But I did like the official one, that's all.

well if you hate it why moan on here then you sad fool

bad word of mouth you idiot, edited poorly made no sense the US version

reply

Lol your post is as poorly edited as the movie. Why moan about my post? I believe everyone has the right to express their opinion.

"Why moan about my post? I believe everyone has the right to express their opinion."

well you answered your own question you idiot

reply

I think you're upset because I'm right and you're wrong. But no reason for name calling! We can still be friendly, and like I said, everyone has a right to their own opinion, even if you are wrong.

The editing had EVERYTHING to do with it! The writing was defiitely not air-tight like the original Reeve film but with particular moments being edited out, such as more insight to Selena, and more of Supergirl putting up a fight (ie- her defiance to sit still in the PZ) a little dimension was lost. That hampered the film greatly. Plus, the release date of Thanksgiving wasn't the best choice either. A summer release, like in the UK would have fared much better.

reply

I agree with the guy above, it was an awful movie that's why it flopped. I still love it but it's badddd. I mean, the whole bully schoolgirl scenes? And the awful acting? Come onnnnn
