It was also one of a select 12 films that were presented on a type of surround sound before Dolby Surround was even invented for Home Video. Other films were Apocalypse Now, Superman II, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

They made such theatrical multi channel audio attempts even in the 60s and 70s.
A movie like Cleopatra from 1963 had 6-Track audio on its 70 mm prints.
That's the remastered DTS-HD Master track you get on the Blu-ray today.

The 70 MM print was only shown in Europe. I saw this opening day at the Chinese theatre in Hollywood and it was a 35 MM print.

I think the BFI has a few 70mm prints. Might be good for a screening at the Museum of the Moving Image. maybe.

To my knowledge there was only one or two 70mm prints overseas. Still, it would be interesting if any one of them surfaced.
