I would have thought they would with the new tv show and helen being in some of the episodes, that being said if they did release it I can pretty much bet it would be a very basic dvd with no extras and a basic menu and not a good HD transfer or cleaned up

Personally I would hope they would give it a good clean HD transfer also wire removal like they do with other movies, even did that for movies that went to dvd as you can always see the wires in supergirl on the non blue screened scenes.

I think the Europe and UK bluray if it did happen though would just be like our crappy dvd version we got...as basic as you could get

There is a lot of bad rap with the wire scenes. I want to make something clear. The versions (European/International versions) which the wires are clearly visible, are due to the bad crop of the film's transfer. It was a bad transfer that was used for the initial DVD from Anchor Bay back in 2000. Any and all other transfers of this picture show no wires. They took the optical effects very seriously and when you watch the US Version or the Director's Cut - there aren't any wires visible with a few minor exceptions.

That being said - I would hope that when/if they do release a Blu Ray of the picture - it would be a brand new transfer from the original negative in the proper aspect ratio. Not cropped and zoomed in to, like the existing DVDs.

nope I have every version and I can see wires in every flying scene that uses them and I'm not looking hard either

hell I could always see them when I watched the vhs versions when I was little

It's actually very psychological. I am sure you are seeing where the wires ARE, regardless if they are visible or not. I do that too.

But I remember back when the DVD was first released I would have this OCD tick and keep watching the director's cut to see if it was improved over the International Version (which it was) and all the wires are virtually unplaceable, save for maybe one or two moments where Roy Fields glorious optics slightly failed.

reply

As far as I know the wires were only ever visible on the International Version Anchor Bay DVD because the widescreen was incorrect...if I remember correctly...
