the plane setting off actually leaves Eddie's whereabouts quite open to any assumptions. The fact is that Eddie's not present while one can be sure either of Eva or Willie. What's interesting is this notion of crossroads (as mentioned in other threads) in a sense that each character is left to continue, separately now, what they had in common: a need to be somewhere.
