Yeah, it just can't be done. The original was one of a kind.

I would be on board if remakes were by and large improvements over the originals (who doesn't like more or better?) But 99% of the films I liked that were remade just suck on ice. Films that should be remade (if you accept the genre) should be films that were filmed in the 40s etc. that featured good stories but could stand an update or to make more relatable to younger viewers.

I just cannot see this one being remade.

Enough with the remakes of perfectly great movies... young people need to learn to adapt.. every other generation has done it.
I see movies with Steam Trains and wall phones from the 1930's and I can figure it out.

I dislike remakes generally and you couldn't beat the original cast and story anyway.
But how about a whole new story of their son?
