other ways to have brought back Spock?

time travel - Trek III couldve been like an 'undoing' of the events of the previous film in order to get Spock back

e.g. maybe if there had been no 'remember' or Spock coffin on genesis (as was originally planned – I believe those scenes were late additions) so III would be hijacking the Enterprise to time warp around the sun to save spock but on the way they encounter the klingons who are after genesis so proceeds with similar events but done abit different - david death, ent destruction, genesis blows up etc (all without young Spock) but for the conclusion/last half hour instead of vulcan/katra swap they use the captured BOP to go around the sun and end up toward the end of TWOK (like the 1955 scenes of BTTF2 & the 1984 part of Terminator Genisys) cloaking device on, beam aboard the Ent and encounter their slightly younger selves and they have to try to prevent Spocks death (Kirk and Co sneaking around like Trials and Tribulations, & like Picard/Kirk in Generations redoing the end of GEN), without interfering in TWOK events too much (although maybe Trek III Kirk couldve encountered Khan face to face this time - Montalban cameo), before succeeding in getting the mains back on line before Spock can sacrifice himself and then returning to their own time, and everythings fine and everyones alive again (like the end of BTTF/XM DOFP/Superman/MOTU etc) - spocks alive and well, Davids alive, the NCC 1701 Ent is ok and has its decommission ceremony

That could have been interesting. Spock's alive, the Enterprise never gets blown up... and Khan is still out there somewhere.

However, as good as that would be, we never would have gotten Star Trek IV out of the deal... at least, not as we know it. It may have ended up something awful.

Khan would still go boom but Spock wouldn't give his life to save everyone

yes theres no way they'd have done time travel again. So maybe wed have got The Final Frontier as IV 😱 (in which case maybe there wouldn't have been a V or VI)

The problem with time travel is that there are no permanent consequences to anything; it's the death of drama.

true (see Generations)

or what about - the opening sequence the romulans are on genesis and find spocks rejuvenated body and take him off genesis, then condition spock as a weapon to use against the federation (abit like Yar in Redemption/Shinzon in Nemesis/Kirk in The Return/)..

then months later kirk finds out from sarek that spock is alive in the romulan empire and being used as an enemy agent so he launches an unauthorized rescue mission (so abit like what happened in Unification).. they find spock but he is now bad and have to fight him (kirk vs spock fight!) then they take him to Vulcan to undergo the ritual with bones

gonna miss posting this type of speculation 

Trying to imagine Trek III had they not brought back Spock (with no 'remember' or end Genesis scene in II) and no Nimoy involved. Opening 5-10 minutes continuing to mourn Spock as in the actual film. but then no Bones with Spocks katra scene in his quarters, no Sarek, instead its all about the Klingons wanting Genesis. and Kirk & Co stealing the decommissioned Enterprise to attempt a rescue of David & Savvik (Kirstie Alley) who have been marooned on Genesis after Grissom was destroyed by Kruge (Edward James Olmos) as they were researching the new planet. Directed by Ron Howard.

leading to IV where Spock could've returned via time travel/alteration in the timeline - (something like the end of XMen DOFP)

so in IV they could still do the going back in time in the BOP due to earth under attack from the probe, but instead of Whales they find out theres only one that can answer the probe – Spock! (but why would the probe searching for spock? maybe the probe could be something to do with Vger and since spock melded with it hes the only one that can answer? Or something else entirety but something where Spock is needed to save the earth from the probe) So they fly around the sun/go back in time to 6months to just before TWOK or even during (like end of BTTF2/Generations, start of Terminator Genisys, or Trials and Tribulations and now EndGame) and after explaining everything etc TWOK era Spock tells them how to answer the probe (so they dont actually need to bring him back with them) but Kirk obviously wants to save spock from his impending death but spock is like no you cant interfere with the timeline I have to die for all this to unfold as it should etc so thered be the dilemma ensuring the timeline unfolds correctly vs saving spock. in the end Kirk or spock would come up with some ingenious way of doing both and itd end with spock alive and well in the present (like Doc at end of BTTF1)

or maybe better have them go back 30+years (either intentional or accidentally overshooting) to before TOS as it requires something involving young Spock (younger actor) or Sarek of that time... but at the end Kirk somehow tells young Spock about his future despite all the protests of timeline stuff (like Marty with Doc) so when they get back and sort out the probe they find hes alive (Nimoy cameo) as he managed to save the Enterprise in TWOK without dying.

or I dunno still do Whales in 1986 but kirk leaves something like a time capsule that future Spock could find so he saves himself in TWOK (end Nimoy cameo like Jean in DOFP)

Bionic implants to make Spock alive.
