I want a sequel where the killer Santa from 1971 is finally caught

I think they need to make a sequel that picks up 45 years after Billy and Ricky's parents were murdered and the killer Santa is finally caught and is about to be executed but starts a prison riot and escapes and now both Billy and the other killer Santa are murdering people at the same time. Have it ignore the four sequels and remake and have it to where Billy survives the end of the first film and goes into hiding for 32 years and he goes back to killing, but the other Santa is a copycat killer. Call it "Silent Nights, Deadly Nights" or "Another Silent Night". Hey, it worked for "Return To Sleepaway Camp", where it ignored the two sequels and the unfinished fourth film.

Wasn't the 1971 killer Santa already middle aged when he committed that atrocity? I'd place him in his late 50's at the very least. I don't think he'd still be alive and if he was he'd be too old to do much in his 90's or early 100's. I'm sure he would've died from a shootout with cops (because he didn't seem like the type to go down without a fight) or he would've died on death row. Utah actually does have the death penalty and I don't think many would've objected to someone being executed who murdered two people in front of their children on Christmas eve.

I also don't think there's any way to rewrite the ending to have Billy survive. He died, there's no way around it. I like your enthusiasm but I just don't think it's plausible unless a proper remake incorporated that into a story which would be an interesting take but I don't see that happening either. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the fate of the original killer. I would've loved if Billy caught up to him on his spree and took him out. He was the cause Billy's problems.

Its never actually implied what his age is. But then, if a direct sequel/reboot was done, it could be implied that he was in his late 20s/early 30s

Also true. But a few times I've seen ret-conned opening to sequels in which the events play out a bit different (Friday the 13th is a good example of that). So it could be written in that Billy just simply went into a shock, and slipped into a comatose state for so many years. He would be living in a home for all these years, his only living relative, Ricky (now a police officer, in this canon, having not become a killer like in part 2) coming to visit him once every few days, especially around Christmastime. When he hears about The Killer Santa being finally arrested, and subsequently escaping, he comes out of the coma-state (like what Grandpa was in), escapes and begins his killing spree. Ricky, hearing this, is now in pursuit of his brother, to catch him before he strikes again (and again).

"The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the fate of the original killer. I would've loved if Billy caught up to him on his spree and took him out. He was the cause Billy's problems."

That would be a great finale. Taking place on the same road where the original killings took place decades earlier.

Killer Santa and Billy have their final fight. Ricky, realizing that Billy may have gone to where it all began, rushes to the road, sirens and lights flashing.
He gets there, only to find that Billy is about to be killed by Killer Santa. He fires a round in the air to get the attention of KS and Billy. Billy takes advantage of the fact that KS is distracted, grabs a rock, bolts upward, and starts bludgeoning KS to death, until all that's left is bloody pulp and a now bloodstained beard.

Ricky calls to Billy to stop, which doesn't get Billy's attention at first. But when Ricky fires another round in the air, Billy stops. As he looks up at his brother Ricky, he slowly goes back into his comatose state for the rest of his life, but is finally at rest, knowing that the man who started his troubles all those years earlier is now dead. However, he is now in a maximum security unit at the state penitentiary.

The writers can always, while ret-conning the opening, say that the killing of Billy and Ricky's parents took place in 1991, their stay at the orphanage was from 1991 to 2004, and Billy's rampage took place on Christmas Eve of 2004. Rather than have him die from a bullet wound, they could say that it grazed Billy, severely injuring him, but hit Mother Superior in the gut, causing her death. That is what Billy sees as he passes out. Ricky, along with the other orphans, get assigned to new homes after he orphanage was closed down after an inspection by Child Protective Services. Ricky's family happens to b a family of cops, which sparks his interest in law enforcement.

OK, I got carried away with this crazy little hypothetical ending scenario, sorry about that. LOL

MERRY CHRISTMAS, IMDB MESSAGE BOARDS!

I'm so scared your little head will come off in my hands!

I like some of the ideas already presented here. Especially the idea of ret-conning the events of original film where Billy being shot wasn't quite as fatal as originally thought.

My idea, for a direct follow-up that ignores all the other sequels made for SNDN, would be to have Billy survive being shot at the end of SNDN, but just barely. Ricky is indeed the boy who witnessed this, and also warns Mother Superior by saying, "Naughty".

The film then flash forwards, "ONE YEAR LATER". Effectively making the film a period piece, and very much set in the mid 1980's. We then cut to a local mental hospital, on the outskirts of the town where the original film's events took place, where Billy has been residing in and has been something of a model patient. Similar to how he was for the bulk of his stay at the orphanage, or even how he presented himself at the toy store he worked at in the original film prior to going nuts. At the same time, we also begin to realize that Ricky has been traumatized by witnessing his brother being shot the year prior, but unfortunately has not been given any slack in discipline by Mother Superior.

This is optional, but I also think it would be somewhat humorous, and a throw back to the original film, if during the time we see Billy being a cooperative patient, that he helps in any way he can with the hospital staff set to a music montage. Perhaps even helping staff decorate for the holidays where it's also painfully aware that staff is avoiding decorating anything specifically relating to Santa Claus, as they would be painfully aware of Billy psychosis.

I am not quite sure how I would handle Billy's inevitable relapse into bonkers Santa Claus-ville, but however it may transpire, Billy is unintentionally exposed to Santa imagery, which can also give quick cuts to the original film's carnage, and Billy mind snaps again. He then proceeds to perhaps killing a few of the hospital staff/and or guard, and escapes.

Following this, it's more broad strokes now. I do like the idea of Billy confronting the 1971 killer Santa, but personally I would make it less of a focal point and just something that happens out of sheer happenstance or luck. Like maybe following Billy's escape from the mental ward, he wanders into a gas station which is being robbed, already-in-progress, by .. you guessed it ... 1971 Killer Santa. Seeing the Santa Claus killer of his parents further unhinges Billy's mind, but while this is going on, and Billy's being struck by a panic attack, I would have 1971 killer Santa make comments/jokes towards Billy that essentially paint Billy as a absolute joke in 1971's killer Santa's mind. To me, it came across as if 1971 killer Santa had a sense of humor, if even a dark one, in the original, and I would want this to continue on so it would be in keeping with his character. 1971 Killer Santa disregards Billy as a scared idiot and re-directs his attention towards the robbery, where unsurprisingly Billy recovers from his panic attack and blindsides 1971 Killer santa, and kills him. Following this, Billy also kills the cashier and the one customer inside the gas station as well. In keeping with the original's tone, I would maybe have it where Billy, after killing 1971 Killer Santa, spots a porno magazine in the customer's hand, deduces that the cashier sold him the mag, says, "Naughty!" and offs them as well.

When he exits the gas station, Billy is shown wearing the Santa Clause outfit that 1971 Killer Santa had on. He then starts walking towards the town where most of the original film took place and carnage ensues again!

I am not quite sure how I would incorporate, and to what extent, Ricky and Mother Superior, but ideally they would play roles more so than just mere cameos. Making the film a period piece, set in the mid 1980's, and keeping the dark humor, and atmosphere the original film had would be vital components that would HAVE to be retained for a true follow-up.

LOL! exactly, here, i'm going to kill you with my walker! slow down so i can do this. you are hilarious. oh my gosh, i'm not joking when i say you should write movies. oh my gosh, the part where you said I don't think many would've objected to someone being executed who murdered two people in front of their children on Christmas eve was so ridiculously wild and crazy and absurd and funny.

this is serious: well, ok he just murdered the parents of two children in front of them on Christmas eve, and don't forget while in a santa outfit. that's so wrong.

that's not true, there was a whole host of things that made Billy crazy and kill people, not just watching his parent get killed but the evil mother superior and his crazy grandpa talking to him about santa clause and Christmas and him putting on a santa outfit.

Maybe part of the allure of that killer Santa is that he disappeared. Just a hint of "what if?" Like some people who think Michael Myers is the embodiment of evil and simply vaporized after the first HALLOWEEN movie.

Realistically though, for a sense of closure it would have been nice if it had been brought up in the film, maybe between the police and Sister Margaret. Perhaps they reference the attack and we learn the man was shot and killed by police shortly after.

I think a prequel with that Santa showing the events leading up to Billy's parents' murder and then the aftermath would be the best route to go. I'd definitely watch such a movie if it were made.

well they did this with the new halloween where they disregarded everything that happened after part 1, and made a change to part 1 as they made michael myers not laurie strode's sister. so they can do it in this case also. but you can't put it in nowadays as that killer wouldn't be young enough to keep killing people. yeah, have Billy not have gotten killed in part 1 but wait why in the world would Billy be ok being friends with the guy who killed both his parents?
