Gordon Jackson's death scene embarrassingly funny

Especially that part when you think he's dead and he jumps right up and says something again! lol. That part was straight out of It's A Mad Mad Mad World (1963). LOL.

"God save the British Empire!" I'm not sure that bit quite worked, but Gordon Jackson's perfomance through the film was exemplary, as was his work in many other things too.

When she read the line in the script, the author of the book was not sure it would work. She felt that Gordon Jackson made it work.

I certainly did not laugh when the character said "God save the British Empire!"

"Two more swords and I'll be Queen of the Monkey People." Roseanne

I didn't laugh at he scene...in fact I was moved to tears not by Gordon Jackson I'm afraid but by James Mason.
I felt Gordon Jackson did his best with what he had which was arguably too much ( I do like Jackson...but he was outplayed here)....but Mason's prayers, and watching the storm of emotions racing across his face as the scene continued distracted me totally.

'Off the record, on the QT, very Hush,Hush!

I didn't laugh, either, and like jaydies I was overwhelmed by Mason's performance - the emotional turmoil that's held in check but the breaking of his voice and you actually see a tear fall. Astonishing performance in that scene. More than anything, I think, it's because he seems to be mourning not just Tom, but everything that is passing. And it nearly made me cry.

i thought it was quite touching, especially Mason's evident affection for jackson, it seemed very realistic.
