Should this be a candidate for a remake?

I'm not usually one that likes remakes, especially ones of films I love so dearly such as this one. But as incredible as this film is, it has aged horribly and has probably a bit too much of that 80's cheese to see the story through for more generations to watch.

Thoughts?

Nah, this doesn't need a remake. If they Hollywood wants to make a film in a similar vein that's fine but Romancing the Stone does not need to be remade.

A big no

Most of the story takes place in Colombia so how and why is it dated? The clothing styles? The lack of cell phone and GPS availability? No Joan Wilder on Kindle? You could make an updated scene-for-scene remake and nothing would change. If the OP doesn't address any of these queries, just call it trolling.

Why am I trolling?? Ffs can't ask a simple question without idiot responses.

The film is very dated, hammy action sequences, poor effects, I mean the stunt MAN dressed as Kathleen in the car in the river is awful. The mondo dismo bar scene at the beginning is cringy as *beep* now.

It was/is a great movie and one of my childhood favourites.
