Book based on screenplay?

I'm almost positive that I read the book based on this movie back when it first came out, but can't find even one reference to a novel anywhere on the internet.

Does anyone else remember reading the book or have I just seen the movie so many times that I'm starting to fill in the thoughts and scene references on my own?
