They filmed the softball scene at my school.

In this movie in the softball scene, it is shot at my former elementary school. My dad met Mel Gibson at a resturant. He said he was real friendly and not stuck up at all.

The bank is on main street in Gate City, VA, and the road sign that says Nicklesville 13, refers to my home town.

Cool I just live a few miles from Gate City. We moved to Kingsport bout 10 years ago. We are practically neighbors.

I live in NC now, but was raised in southwest VA(Wise). During the filming of this movie, I was fishing in the Ft.Blackmore area (Dungannon) when up comes the camera crew to film background shots of the creek (Little Stony). They are seen at the beginning of the movie.

I grew up in Clintwood and it really burns my butt that Virginia didn't get mentioned in the credits. For gosh sakes, they showed the back of a Virginia National Guard Armory in the softball scene!!!

Oh well,
