Pagans?

It's been awhile since I've watched this movie, but I liked it a lot. I remember one scene in particular, when the mother and her children say a blessing before their meal. It appeared to be a pagan blessing but I can't recall it now. Did anyone else notice this? I don't recall the family's religious affiliation or denomination being mentioned in any part of the movie, or any mention of religion for that matter.

Thank you. That's what I thought but wasn't sure if I misunderstood.

"Face it girls, I'm older and I have more insurance."

I don't recall it verbatim, but they thanked the Earth and Sun. Could lean toward Paganism. Could also be symbolic of the close bond that farming families have with Nature.

Now I am going to have to watch this all the way through.

Except for the first hunter-gatherers.

It seemed very out of character for a corn farmer in the 1980s, considering most of the community was very stereotypically portrayed.
