PC remake, what would change now?

24 years later, how this film might be changed if a studio decided to green light it today.

1) Lamar Javelin scene would not make it

2) Asian stereotypical music would be gone (gong etc played)

3) Betty trick sex scene would not be filmed

I think that is it. Maybe the peeping tom hidden camera scenes also.

They could call it "Revenge of the Nerds; We've Got No Bush"

All the un-PC stuff is what gave this movie it's charm and enhanced humor, so I wouldnt remake it period.

It would be titled "Revenge of the Athletically Challenged".

This is a great list. Here are my additions:

1) Any scenes with the underage kid in a sexually charged environment wouldn't fly (recall when he's standing between two large women talking to their boobs?).

2) There would be no overweight female actresses. The Omega Mus would be hot girls with slight flaws to indicate that they are outcasts. E.g., all you would have to do would be remove the thick glasses and you would have Megan Fox underneath.

3) The whole fund-raising scene (i.e., kissing booth and pies with naked pics under the whipped cream) would be cut. Too degrading to women.

4) There would be a disabled nerd. (As others have pointed out, the gay character and Asian characters would be eliminated.)

5) Louis would reject the bitch cheerleader at the end, explaining that she lacks "inner beauty." (Then he'd probably hook up with Megan Fox after she gets contact lenses.)

They wouldn't make the black nerd the gay one.

They wouldn't make the gay one so feminine

The entire panty raid scene wouldn't exist, because they'd be afraid it would start giving college kids bad ideas.

They wouldn't make the one doing the rap at the end the black one, because it implies that they're only rapping because they're black.

None of the nerds would have glasses now. Since LASIK surgery has come a long way, and so have contact lenses.

This. Yes. I mean look at American Pie. Michelle is drop dead georgeous, yet we're supposed to believe she's nerdy and unpopular because she has a funny voice and talks about band camp? In real life all the jocks would be fighting for her. If she'd gone to my school she would have been the most popular girl there due to her looks.
Also Gilbert's mum would be about 42, attractive with no grey hair whatsoever. Parents are only allowed to be hot nowadays.
Also at he party all the Mus dresses would be sleeveless because it's toatally unacceptable nowadays to show a woman in a dress that covers her shoulders.

What would change? It would suck monkey balls for one.

The jocks would be the underdogs, bullied by the nerds.

1 and 2 are some of the best parts of the movie. Being the age that I watched this movie growing up. Viewing it around the age of 6 or 7 for the first time, right after it was released on VHS and HBO. So watching it growing up I never thought of these scenes in a way that apparently this younger generation sees them as. If anything Lamar portrayed homosexuals in a good view for me and showed me that they are just like everyone else.
I never thought this movie showed anybody in a mean, racist view until I read some of these posts. If it did anything it made me view people of different cultures as just like I.
