A few days ago I watched this and Fargo Season 2 both for the first time

I watched them both in one night firs, first Repo Man and then Fargo Season 2. I noticed quite a few similarities.

There's a guy named Otto.
Flying saucers
A guy get's shot in the ear.
A brief mention of The Flintstones.
In the liner notes to The Criterion Collection blu-ray of Repo Man there is a devilized caricature of what looks like Ronald Reagan saying John Wayne. Ronald Reagan appears in an episode of Fargo Season 2 and if I'm not mistaken someone else briefly mentions John Wayne Gacy.
I know that there were a few more overlaps but I can't think of them right now.

I guess it's like Miller said, it's all part of a cosmic unconsciousness.

A bit thin, to be honest, but I can't rule out the Fargo creators may have intended a little shout out to one of the greatest films ever. Keep digging I guess but don't try too hard.

If I hadn't watched both back to back or ordered them in the same package I wouldn't have thought anything of it.

Another "connection" I remembered is that at the end of Season 2 one of the characters says he's going to get a facelift and in the special features they explained he became a very minor character seen in Season One that was seen eating a plate of shrimp...
