Just saw it for the first time

I have seen the remake...can't remember what possessed me to see the remake first. I think maybe a friend wanted to watch it. Anyway, I thought this movie would have not aged well, but it has aged fine. I mean yeah, everyone looks very 80s (and man those 80s coats) but all in all it was a damn fine movie experience. Every death had a bite to it. Every fight seemed to matter. It's kind of amazing how restrained the remake was in terms of characters being knocked off or emotional impact. This movie ends the way it should end. A guerilla force can only last so long against organized army. I can't really find a negative in the movie...it's actually not even as xenophobic as I had expected (I said AS xenophobic, not that it's NOT xenophobic).

So I guess the only thing left to say is WOLVERIIIIIIINES!

I watched the remake a few years ago and didn't care for it anywhere near as much as the original. I think that the main reason is that in the original the heroes are a bunch of regular high school kids doing what they can to help their town and country. They had a big learning curve and had to figure it out on their own, unlike the remake where one of them was a trained soldier.
