captures the 40's quite well

Do you think? I would not know from experience being born in the late sixties but I have always loved movies that are set in the 40's there is certainly not enough of them, what are some other good ones to see?

1940's theme?

Hmm...try Paper Moon, Chinatown, Mulholland Drive for starters.
Ironwood, The Postman Always Rings Twice.
Might not all be 40's per se but set before the middle of the century.

I think you mean Mullholland Falls

The set design and prop work was really well done for this film. It's also nice to know that much of the Central and Northern coastal towns in California still retain much of their character and haven't been gentrified by land development and golf courses like so much of Southern California's coastal regions

As for period movies with a similar feel, definitely check out "Summer of '42", "1941", and "Avalon"
