Deleted Scenes?

What have fans heard about the deleted scenes? Has anyone actually seen them? This is from wikipedia:

After the character change from Vanity to Apollonia, the script was drastically revised, and many dark scenes were cut. Some of these scenes include Prince and Apollonia having sex in a barn (a concept which was the story behind the 1985 song "Raspberry Beret"); Prince going to Apollonia 6's rehearsal and engaging in a physical fight with the members of The Time; and a scene which featured Prince's mother talking to him about her shaky relationship with his father. In addition, many scenes such as the Lake Minnetonka scene, Apollonia first meeting Morris, and the railyard scene were cut down because of time constraints. Many clips from these scenes were featured, however, in the trailer for the movie as well as the "When Doves Cry" montage.

I do remember seeing that fight scene in a trailer for the movie back in '84. I thought it was interesting, and always wondered why it didn't appear in the original movie.

As with most classic movies, they should revise this movie to feature some of the deleted scenes. This would rejuvenate it, especially for old folks like me who watched it when it premiered back in '84 and have seen it a million times since.

I was hoping Al Magnoli would release some of the deleted footage as a tribute to Prince after his passing. I'm desperately optimistic that WB will release another edition of the film with new extras.

Totally agree. I would think it would be a smart move to create a commemorative edition of this movie complete with never released scenes, interviews with surviving casts members, and other behind the scenes information. I think it would rejuvenate interest in the movie and become a big money maker for WB.

Never saw them, but I have pictures. During the "When doves cry" montage, Prince pulls up where Apollonian is practicing and storms in to drag her out. he gets into a fist fight with jelly-bean.

And that's the double truth, RUTH!

I have an autographed script of Purple Rain and it does include much darker scenes. In my copy, his love interest is "Vanity".

I agree with other posters that they should release a commemorative edition of this movie. I already own 3 copies, but would buy another in a heartbeat.
