George Martin Murdered?

Did Callahan kill George Martin? The last we saw of him he was about to meet her parents and then he was never heard from again. Did she find out the accent was fake and lose her temper?

reply

Unlikely, given the humorous nature of the film. I think Callahan's role in that final scene was to put George Martin in his place, like an unruly child.

reply

Given their prior scene where she seduces him and leaves him all used up, more than likely it (their final appearance in this film, his last shot in the series although she appeared in most of the sequels) is there to confirm he is now a one-woman man and she's the one wearing the pants in their relationship.

reply

She went on to appear in 6 sequels while no one ever saw George again. If he was now a one woman man wouldn't he have turned up at some point? Instead we see her with a different man in every sequel.

reply

Two things.

First, she appeared in five sequels, not six. She was not in Police Academy II.

Secondly, the fact that George Martin was now a one-woman man had nothing to do with her coming back. For whatever reason, the producers and writers decided that his character's appeal was gone, so they didn't bring him back. The one joke he was good for had been used up (sneaking into the female barracks).

As if Callahan would murder anyone. She was feisty not psychotic.

I don't know. He just didn't appear again in the sequels. Maybe the actor didn't want to return. There were others from the original who didn't come back.

Neither did Leslie Barber and Thompson. Doesn't mean they're dead.

reply

Kim Cattral's character wasn't in the sequels either.

What's wrong with all of you idiots, there was a scene just after George Martin got ravaged by callaghan that evening and he was making his way back to the academy campus in early sunrise!

Watch the scene again

reply

Yes he was seen again. When they are all marching at The Graduation ceremony in the final scene, he is there.

I notice Andrew Rubin's IMDb bio is updated and he is looking to do acting projects again. It'd be great to see George Martín make a return to the franchise to explain his absence from the other sequels.

If producers didn't find his character interesting enough for a sequel as an officer, perhaps they should consider making George Martín a villain for a future Police Academy film.

I'd like to think Martín was fired from the force after PA1 due to some poor personal decisions on his part, and has been in and out of jail over the years. (And Martín did say in PA1 that he thought Mahoney was a pretty interesting guy himself for wanting to join the Academy to get thrown out).

We've seen bad guys enrol in the Academy (like Zed, also Cervantes & Womack from PA: The Series), but we've never had an Academy graduate end up on the wrong side of the law. Mahoney vs Martín. Who's with me???

...anybody??

I can't help but point out the stupidity of the replies here, I don't care how many years ago it was. Like...almost nobody grasps the context of the question! It's hilarious.

So to give the first actual answer here...I think we never see him because he's now a house-husband. Callahan wears the pants and it's George's job to take care of the home and look pretty for her. That's why she doesn't hook up with anyone else in the sequels. She's still with George.
