Well, look at it this way ----

How many other words, if they were merely mouthed, were as visually close to "a$$hole" as "eggroll" was?

But you're right, that was a hysterical dubbed line. So was Harris saying "Nobody PLAYS with me" instead of the original "Nobody SCREWS with me."

How about Adventures in Babysitting:

"Don't *beep* with the Lords of Hell."
"Don't *beep* with the babysitter."

...has now become, "Don't mess with the babysitter." It just doesn't have the same resonance.

I don't know about that SpielbergRules.

The dubbing tv version of spaceballs had me laughing so hard I fell out of the chair!

The scene where they rescue the princess from the spaceball prison. In place of barf saying "holy s***". they dubbed in....

HOLY MILKBONES!

Best ever dubbed line for me was the TV version of Die Hard. Instead of Saying "Yipee Kayay *beep* they replaced it with "Yipee Kayay Keemosabe"

Classic Die Hard/Lone Ranger combination

My favorite is from Weird Science.

Kelly LeBrock says: "She kneed him in the nuts and called him 'f*ggot' in front of everyone."

On Comedy Central, she says: "She kneed him in the guts and called him 'braggart' in front of everyone."

Soon after, one of the guys at the table asks: "In the family jewels?"

This gets edited to "In the flippin' gizzard?"

These are all genius, and have had me in stitches... I'm pretty sure there's another way in Pretty Woman which goes, "I can't even take a schlock without asking". And the edited Robocop is full of such badly dubbed classics, including my personal favourite: "You stupid asshead!" Which is hardly any lighter than *beep* in the first place! I mean, do either "airhead" or keep the damn original! Robocop should NEVER have been edited down to a kiddies movie.

Then there's Beverley Hills Cop, 1 and 2... they pretty much had to rerecord the entire dialogue for both movies to get THOSE down to prime time TV lol

I think the best ever would be from Vacation. When they get lost in East St Louis and Clark asks for directions the response is *beep* yo mama", or something like that. In the edited version it was changed to "Who do I look like, Christopher Columbo".

I used to hate it when they dubbed the lines on TV, now I wish they did it all the time, it literally turns any movie into a comedy.

I remember that Die Hard one, but my all time fave has to be the one from Scarface, which is on the special features of the DVD.

"So where'd you get the beauty scar, tough guy? Eatin pineapple?"

I laughed when I typed it just as I always laugh when I think of it, it has to be heard to be believed.

He actually says 'I suppose a BOP is out of the question' in the edited version.

It was always 'airhead' in the versions I saw on TV in the UK whenever it was shown in a censored version in the 1990s. The dubbed line I most remember from that version of Robocop is when they've just finished testing the newly-built Robocop and that guy says 'You are a bad motherf&*£^@!' in the original, but in the censored version it became 'You are a bad mothercrusher!' I creased up when I heard this alternative for the first time.

In Beverly Hills Cop, after Axel Foley is first arrested and is being questioned by the police, they have this exchange:

Taggart: We're more likely to believe an important local businessman than some foul-mouthed jerk from outta town.
Foley: Foul mouthed? F--- you man.
Taggart: [getting angry] Now you better watch your mouth...

The offending line was dubbed on TV to something like:

Foley: Foul mouthed? Then you have a pig's face...

I'm surprised Slap Shot hasn't made the list yet. Watch the original version, then watch the edited one. There are scenes where it looks like they didn't even try to match the mouths. Of course, trying to get around 150 or so expletives may get tiring at some point.

TV Version, My favorite is from Back to the Future 3. Marty is awaiting Doc to wake up from that lone shot of whiskey. As Buford is whining about, Marty looks back in and says, "He's an Idiot!" Its clear that he says A-hole, just from reading the lips.

Acccording to bryan singer on the usual suspects dvd commentary in the airplane version of the film they say "fairy god mother" instead of *beep* *beep* and stephen baldwin says: "Give me the key you fairy godmother brother bugger!" id kill to see that.

I just remembered another one. On HBO, there was Mr. Show and one of their sketches flowed into a family-friendly version of Goodfellas. Being a family thing, it was intentionally dubbed with a guy saying "You Mother-Father" and "You Chinese Dentist" (I don't even know what they were dubbing over, it was funny just getting that ridiculous). If that wasn't goofy enough, a character then proceeded to give the middle finger only to have a big thumbs up superimposed over the bird lol.

I love the bad TV edits of the Die Hard movies, especially Die Hard II.

Guess which words in the following used to be a$$hole:

"I guess you're not such a rascal after all."
"Oh, I'm a rascal. . .I'm just YOUR kind of rascal."

Also, keep an ear out for people being called "Mellonfarmers" and "Melonfeelers" instead of *beep*

I like in dumb and dumber when the part he says, "you just tell me where to sign, and lloyd says, right on my sandwich after you kiss it!" i don't know why in the world they chose sandwich seeing as ass and sandwich do not synchronize in any way, and i've never heard of an ass being called a sandwich. haha

The finest all time. Tremors T.V. edit. After the graboids eat Walter, Kevin's Bacon screams. "You Son of a B#TCH!" Which is replaced with "You slug in a ditch!"

I might add, that the first time I saw the Faculty it was on T.V, and I thought that "Blue Ribbon Slimeball!" was a censors work. Nope, just totally sweet dialogue.

Also Tremors has 'Mother Humpers' used in the film. That's actually a dub on the original film (dubbed by the director i believe) to change the obvious as it was the only thing preventing it getting a PG-13 and Kevin Bacon was off on Apollo 13...

Ahhh Tremors...What a cracking film.
