I just watched this for the first time and was wondering if anyone knows where some of the footage was shot such as the desert and jungle scenes. Also, I liked a lot of the interior sets at the lost city. Fun movie!
According to the April/May 1985 issue of Prevue magazine, pages 42-49, "The Perils of Gwendoline" was "lensed on location in Morocco, southwest France's Bordeaux province, the Philippines and Paris in the summer of 1983."
After final preparation in Paris during the first week of May 1983, cast and crew emigrated to the tropic for two weeks of rehearsal before the shooting began. The Philippines location shoot was seven hours from Manila and took one month.
"Following the tropical shoot, the `Gwendoline' crew returned to Paris' Billancourt Studios for several months of soundstage work."
Wow! I was thinking the locations looked really exotic, but I didn't realize they went to such great lengths to get those wonderful shots. It's a shame that so much is done on green screen now days, you just can't beat the real thing. It's also pretty amazing that they had a budget large enough to allow such diverse locations.
