The plot sounds ridiculous.
So he enrols in Oxford just to get a chick? Um...k

It's a great movie but I can't say if I love it because I loved it when I was younger and it's nostalgic for me or if it really is a truly great film for everyone - either way, I love it and watch it whenever it's on TV. Which is rare. You should give it a shot, you may enjoy it.
"Nobody puts Baby in a corner."
The plot IS kind of ridicilous, but who cares when there's Rob Lowe? ;)
Edward Cullen (L)
And he wins the money to bribe himself into Oxford, by banging an older chick whose car he was parking, getting paid $1000 for it (in addition to a classic convertible likely worth about $50K). He then runs up the $1K to apparently several thousand on a craps table, which he uses to give a computer hacker to move him up on thr waiting list.
And all of this so he can woo a famous royal chick who seemingly turns down all other advances, and become the star of the Oxford Crew team.
Umm yeah, that could happen....after all, we're talking Rob Frickin' Lowe here.
He runs the grand up to $14,000 - and of course it can happen, it's movie magic :)
"Nobody puts Baby in a corner."
This film is a series of ridiculous plot twists interspersed with giant leaps of faith, but found it mildly entertaining. 5/10 stars from me.
shareMost movie plots are ridiculous.
yeah, it's pretty silly now. when it was out, it seemed much better. but i was younger then lol
i think they overplayed the fish out of water, overused it. and some of the things were over the top, like him stealing the boat and invading that first race. that would get him kicked out for sure
"Cos... f__k's sake, who'd wanna keep trying to shoot a nice guy like me?" --XXXX
How did he get admitted to Oxford? Did he con his way in?
