Almanac of Fall
This is my first Bela Tarr film and I can't believe it took me this long! I guess I'm pretty early by the looks of it in here! I've heard about Bela Tarr's work for a while now. Maybe his films were just recently released on DVD. Anyway great film! It has satisfied my Bergman hunger. And considering the storyline I thought the two hours flew by. I expected it to be a lot slower but it was quite fast-paced with all the action. I had heard it was loosely based on Sartre's No Exit and I wondered how he would pull it off and Bela Tarr did it beautifully. How do you make a group of people stuck together in a dilapidated place? Take away their money of course! Brilliant! Family Nest looks similar. I'm going to rent Werckmeister Harmonies next.
I see no beauty here, nor fit for breeding.
