Too bad Troisi died

...there's no way to make a sequel now. The saga will never end.

What a relief. Sequels are nightmarish. No masterpiece can or will ever be duplicated. It's high time directors and producers came off the compulsion of producing neverending sagas, or remakes, and thought up new ideas instead. Some sequels are enjoyable, though (I'm thinking of the Star Wars series in particular).

As far as Roberto Benigni is concerned, he has never made a proper sequel, but by repeating himself he has become increasingly annoying over the years, forcing the caricature and producing embarrassingly stereotypical gags . With the exception of Life is Beautiful, his more recent films lack the freshness of the beginning.

On the contrary, I think Massimo Troisi was very innovative in the Italian movie panorama, and he never made sequels. Perhaps he died too young to fall in temptation. I shall remember him forever as Neruda's illiterate postman in love with poetry. A big loss indeed.

Sometimes lightning strike twice. Godfather II was as good as The Godfather.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

I agree totally with you. I love Troisi and I'll always will.
