underrated

This has to make the Top 10 most underrated movies of the 80's.

reply

why do you think it should be underrated. what was wrong with it.

reply

LOL. Sorry, but I gotta get out of America.

its a very cute movie....but Demi Moore occupies too much screentime in the movie's second half...i'm not saying that's bad..but the movie is about Jon Cryer's character not his crush...overall though it is very very cute, and yes very underrated. Considering how huge Pretty In Pink was, this should have at least gotten a reissue after that one came out! Always Thought Cryer was an underrated actor, liked him a lot in some of the indies i'd seen him in the later 90's...he's good on 2 and 1/2 men (even when it seems like he's phoning it in I still like him well enough) but man i do miss seeing him pop up in the occasional movie here and there. he was awesome in the movies...maybe when the series ends he'll finally have enough recognition factor to start appearing in roles the way Tony Randall did thanks to The Odd Couple!

according to wiki this was cryer's and j tilly's first movies.

never heard of this till today when CW showed it. there was one Cryer movie where he acts like a high school student and falls in love with an actual teenager that came on cable several times.

funny how demi and cryer (even jeffrey tambor with arrested development) are popular again.

Still laughing...I don't say this often but....classic.

Orgies are not too much fun if no one wants to do it with you.

Kosk, well done, you win the prize...

A virtual cookie might have to do..but, really, it's the internet, I suppose you could have a virtual Maserati.

Or a virtual Kate Moss, for that matter, but you might want to make her a sandwich first, or you may awake to find her gnawing on your arm.

I liked it. I find most of the Free Movies offered on Xfinity on Demand to be scarcely worth the effort of choosing and playing, and usually I terminate my viewing after a half hour; but I chose this one just out of mild curiosity to see young Demi Moore with a pre-Charlie Sheen Cryer, and it hooked me. Nothing really major happens, but I just kept watching and enjoying it.

Love the movie. They just don't make these kind of movies anymore. I still even have it on VHS if you can believe it!!!!!! It's one of those movies that you sit at home, get into sweats, get some junk food and veg! You couldn't have ask for a better cast of people for the movie.

reply

I'm watching it on Laserdisc.

I think "Pretty In Pink" did everything this movie tried, but better. It was ok.

reply

It difentely deserves more attention! This was beyond better than 'The Fabulous Baker Boys' I actually love the music Laura sings! And the story is cute, too. Does anyone what the budget was to make the movie? And how much it grossed?

*Put the blame on mame!*

You are so correct. I still think this is Demi Moore's best performance on film. I watched this movie back in 1984. Didn't see it in the theater, but I think it came out around the same time that Karate Kid was released.

I recall renting the video from Captain Video and being pleasantly surprised.

It is just one of those fun, feel good movies with decent acting, and a lot of heart. The supporting actors in the film really stick out for me. Tim Robbins is funny, goofy, and nuts. But the movie also has Jeffrey Tambor, Ann Wedgeworth, George Wendt, sexy Jennifer Tilly, Elizabeth Daily, Peter Frechette, and a bunch of other good actors who keep the movie light. For example, the annoyed guy who played the father of the bride whose wedding they crashed was excellent and helped serve the story.

I feel like this movie was neglected by everyone. I even recall Jon Cryer saying the movie was not hip enough when he was promoting Pretty in Pink and that was the reason it wasn't a hit. Need to get this one on DVD.

This movie, Vision Quest, Heaven Help Us, are truly the most underrated teen movies on the 1980s.

They used to play this on HBO sometimes in the 90's and I taped it. LOL I always thought it was underrated too. I also like the movie "Class". All these actors when they're youngins.

reply

I agree, Class is a great movie as well.
