If Trump becomes our president....

He will make this movie seem like real life, He will probably become like the "big brother" of the movie.

"He will make this movie seem like real life, He will probably become like the "big brother" of the movie."

But will that be Trump's fault... or should we blame the idiots who vote him into office? 

If Trump did become president, I suspect it would only be for one term. Unlike Big Brother, he can be voted out of office if people think he's doing a lousy job. That's assuming people actually do make the effort to vote in the first place...

reply

Are you kidding? George Orwell wrote 1984 as a warning to future generations, Liberals use it as a guide to life! Freedom of speech is slavery! Patriotism is Racism! along with "Whites haven't been oppressed enough!" hence white privilege. Let's not forget "Ignorance is strength!" Liberals love to tolerate barbaric practices displayed by other cultures and turn a blind eye to absolutely appalling behaviour, because of "cultural appropriation". If anything, Clinton is the face of Big brother. Trump hates political correctness.

Wrong.

There is no freedom of the press, now..unless it's news that Trump approves of. There is no freedom of speech, unless it's speech that Trump approves. He will personally attack citizens without power or position, if they say anything against him. He's brutal and goes for he jugular. He tells people to fire a union worker. He calls a woman "Miss Housekeeping" because she's hispanic. He imitates and criticizes and makes fun of a disabled small reporter because the reporter said something Trump didn't like.

Trump likes ignorance and total obedience. No freedoms, except Trump Freedom in Trumpland. Hostility, hatred, arrogance, bullying, authoritarianism, collaborating with non-ally foreigners for his own gain, immorality, foul speech, daily lies his supporters never acknowledge are lies, molesting women.

Anyone who voted for him was Trumped. He's P T Barnum with a hammer. He's a disgusting, vile, fake, global conglomerate dictator. He wouldn't know the truth if it were in front of his orange face.

At the press conference today, he brought papers with him. They were blank, "fake" papers, to make people think he had been working hard on his businesses and the conflict of interest issue. Lies. There is nothing real about him.

reply

Uh yeah, last I checked, name calling and insulting people isn't quite the same as restricting freedom of speech. Nice try at hyperbolically villainizing Trump, though.

Can't doublethink?! Watch this:

It won't be long yeah YEAH yeah YEAH yeah YEAH

It won't be long yeah YEAH yeah YEAH yeah YEAH

It won't be long yeah yeahhhh till I belong to you

Since you left me ewwww I'm so alone

Now your coming... you're coming on home

I'll be good like I know I should

You're coming home! You're coming home!

That's confusion -- not doublethink.

It's an effective way of using doublethink because depending on the context, she's not really lying.

She says it's not long, and it isn't, but in the context of time, it is long.

She says she's coming, and she is, but in the context of travel, she's not coming.

reply

reply

Doublethink is the process of juggling two contradictory ideas in your head and using the "correct" one where appropriate. After Trump was elected president, one of the things he said was:

"For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I'm reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so that we can work together and unify our great country.”
But wait a minute - during the election campaign he kept talking about making America great again. As if America had stopped being great. But after the election he's saying America is great. So is America great or isn't it?

No, corrupt Clinton would have made a sjw 1984.

Exactly. Liberals always project fascism onto the Right, whereas the Left is packed with fascist-minded people, many of them violently inclined.

reply

Hitler was a socialist and very fond of Marx's ideas (though not so much of Russian Jewish Bolsheviks). The Left has a habit of trying to alienate Hitler as right-wing when his racism, political and economic ideas were all entirely taken from Karl Marx and were very popular among German socialists at that time.

Regarding Trump, I do not see how the OP can seriously claim that Trump's America will resemble 1984 when the man vehemently supports the constitution, specifically the 1st and 2nd amendments, both of which would be jeopardised by Hillary who wishes to impose limitations on speech and on self-defence.

Sadly I suspect this anti-Trump belief system is based on nothing more than media scaremongering. He seems a fairly decent fellow and he has a very long history of charitable work and partnership with minority communities. He does not engage in racial identity politics as the Democrats unfortunately do.

reply

The Nazi party only paid lip service to socialism, just as Ingsoc only paid lip service to socialism. There is nothing inherently bad about socialism itself. Identifying the Nazis with socialism makes as much sense as identifying devilled sausages with satanism.

I don't think Hitler ever read an actual copy of The Communist Manifesto. Various sources suggest he was a lazy reader who got his ideas from a hodgepodge of radical pamphlets he would have only half understood.

There are creationists who have also tried to label Hitler a Darwinist, and the documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed went as far as claiming the Holocaust was a direct result of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. In reality Hitler probably never read a word of Darwin.

reply

Hitler was a socialist

This again? Hitler was no more a socialist than North Korea is a democracy - remember their country's official name is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. His government did spend to revitalise the German economy in the 1930s but that was just standard Keynesian demand stimulus, not Marxist at all.

his racism, political and economic ideas were all entirely taken from Karl Marx

Can you please provide a quotation from Marx's works where he advocates exterminating the Jewish race?

yadda yadda Trump

The man is utterly unsuited to be President and probably mentally unbalanced but if you can't see it, you will have four years to find out the hard way. If he isn't impeached or decides being President is too much like hard work.

"No, corrupt Clinton would have made a sjw 1984."

But in the election most Americans voted for Clinton...

And it was estimated that there was only a 58% voter turnout. That's the problem when voting isn't compulsory. If voting were compulsory, the U.S. might have had its first female president.

reply

So? She was corrupt. I swear people seem more concerned about the Russians hacking than what they found out. She was corrupt sabotaging bernie, using gay fund raisers for campaign funds and many other dispecable practices

reply

When you can't even spell "dispecable" correctly, after its been prominently featured in the title of two recent blockbuster movies, you're not the sharpest tool in the shed.

No wonder Trump said he loves "the poorly educated."

reply

So no way to dispute. Deflect like the left. That is why I can't be a liberal. You have to deny reality

We have to add a new word to the dictionary: idiotocracy, meaning rule by an idiot.

AS I'm writing this, lefties are torching UC Berkley because of a "reporter" that was going to make a "speech" there. Yeah, lefties sure know how to stick up for the right to free speech and free thought.

Big brother is watching and responding... 👀

I looked up the Berkeley uproar on google. Hadn't heard of Milo Yiannopoulos until now.

The 32-year-old right-wing provocateur is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump and a self-proclaimed internet troll. He was banned from Twitter after leading a harassment campaign against “Ghostbusters” actress Leslie Jones.
I can't say I'm upset that the event at Berkeley was cancelled. People don't have to be left-wing to shout down an obvious idiot.

In a democratic country "freedom of speech" simply means the government can't censor or suppress a person's views. But a crowd of angry demonstrators is not the government. Freedom of speech gives them the right to protest and voice their opposition to the ramblings of a bigot. Unfortunately, demonstrations do have a tendency to get out of hand.

reply

You have a right to a peaceful protest, but nothing the left has shown in the past 4 years is how to peacefully protest. You quote a leftist hit piece against Milo, but I bet you have never really heard the truth directly by listening to him. If you did, you'd know that most of what you mentioned, especially about the ghostbuster actor is a sham. Wake up. The left is the most fascist party since Hitler's regime. They suppress freedom at any chance that they get and those useful idiots are all empowered by the cash flow from Soros.

reply

====
Oh, so you say American left is worse than Maoist China that killed nearly a million victims or North Korea with their brutal hereditary dictators. What a meaningless accusation.

reply

"You have a right to a peaceful protest, but nothing the left has shown in the past 4 years is how to peacefully protest."

Protesters get angry no matter what their political leanings are.  Though it's a bit simplistic to assume that anyone who isn't right-wing is automatically left-wing. Things aren't as clear cut or black and white as that. At any rate, I don't think many of those protesters at Berkeley would have read Das Kapital or The Communist Manifesto. Were any of them even wearing Che Guevara T-shirts?

"The left is the most fascist party since Hitler's regime."

You're entitled to hold that belief. But if someone doesn't like what a prejudiced, right-wing bigot has to say, does that automatically make them an admirer of Stalin, Mao Tse-tung or Pol Pot? I think not. Milo Yiannopoulos - a person I hadn't even heard of until another poster on this thread mentioned the riot at Berkeley - hasn't had his civil liberties attacked by the government. If an internet troll (Milo Yiannopoulos for instance) gets kicked off a website by an administrator, that doesn't mean his "freedom of speech" has been violated. From what I can gather, Milo Yiannopoulos is simply an egotistical self publicist who likes to upset people just for the sake of upsetting people.

reply

I understand the government can't do anything about free speech. However, we should be very concerned when "mob rule" dictates what people are allowed to say. To me, this is not only a cause for alarm but it is anarchy in the making. We live in a nation of laws. What these protesters are doing is unamerican and illegal.

Also, from what I've heard and seen in video clips, a number of people got hurt in that riot. This is unacceptable behavior and the police need to step in and start arresting every one of them.

reply

Obviously they are closing the forums because of Trumps plan to stop free speech. He constantly berates the press for telling the truth, now we (peons) will have to stop expressing our hatred of him and his stupidity and unAmerican ways. Trump neither understands or respects our constitution.

Frankly if we had not had the constant lies from Fox news and the allowed twisted lies of people like Rush Limbaugh, our country would not be in such a sad place with our democracy taken away from us. Lies are propaganda and the right wing (fascist) have been using propaganda against us for 35 years.

reply

"Also, from what I've heard and seen in video clips, a number of people got hurt in that riot."

According to the news reports it was a largely peaceful demonstration consisting of about 1500 people. Among those 1500 people there were 150 "masked agitators" who turned up to instigate the riot. It's unlikely they were students. They were more like gatecrashers.

Milo Yiannopoulos tends to get a similar reaction wherever he goes. The trouble at Berkeley was just a repeat of something that's already happened many times before - only this time there were 150 agitators to heighten the chaos. The university at Berkeley didn't actually invite Milo Yiannopoulos to come and lecture there. It was the Republican club. In any event, I doubt Milo Yiannopoulos was seriously upset about not getting to speak. He just seems to relish his role as a publicity-chasing troublemaker.

reply

peaceful demonstration consisting of about 1500 people.

The "peaceful" demonstrators did nothing to stop the violent assaults. Again, every one of them should be arrested.

reply

"The "peaceful" demonstrators did nothing to stop the violent assaults."

So how would you have stopped the violence if you found yourself caught up in a riot? I seriously doubt polite requests like "Please stop doing that" or "Kindly desist from damaging that property" would have much effect.

When did Trump say he wants to get rid of our amendment rights and impose a fascist, totalitarian dictatorship upon us? You shouldn't get all your news from CNN.

They don't know what they don't know. School indoctrination is where it all begins. The liberals were smart to figure that and infiltrate the education system and the media. Honestly, conservatism and libertarianism are walking dead, but nobody wants to admit it. Look at all the kids demanding gun control after the latest school shooting. Ask them how another law, words on a page, would keep murders from murdering. All you get are blank stares.
