To the folks trashing this film: Lighten Up. This is a terrific "leave your cares behind" movie and one that I enjoy watching with my kids every year. I am STILL waiyint for it to be released on DVD. Thank goodness it is shown on Cable a few times.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I watch it every year, without fail! I have for as long as I can remember. About 14 years ago I received it for Christmas on VHS because the copy my mom had taped from cable had gotten too worn out. Wish it was DVD, but at least I have a copy!!!

I love this movie as well. It is very heartfelt and it is also fun when they go into the North Pole. I also cannot wait until it is on dvd. I try to watch it every year but it is not on every year which is sad.

I loved this movie as a kid. I'm glad Hallmark has it on. Otherwise I'd be forced to scour the TV guide for syndicated airings. I really wish they would release this on DVD in North America. Maybe someone should start a campaign for it.

You can get a vhs quality dvd on ioffer.com for pretty cheap. the sellers claim it is in public domain and legal to copy now. Don't know if that's true or not. I loved this movie as a kid and my vhs wore out so I bought a dvd from there

They're lying. There's a copyright notice right at the end by Robert Halmi's company. By US copyright law, unless they specifically put it into the public domain, it will not lose copyright status until 2079.

I completely agree. I love this movie. Yes, it's kind of silly, but so what? It's better than the Dudley Moore movie with the exploding candy canes (not that I don't have that one on DVD too...being a Christmas time baby that was born in the 80's, I love this stuff). I just recently borrowed the VHS copy from my parents' house and converted it to DVD. I did the conversion myself because my husband is a computer guy and so I have the tools at home to do so, but maybe it's possible that you could take your VHS to one of those DVD conversion places and they could do it for you? I don't know their rules on converting copyrighted material, but maybe it wouldn't be an issue because it's not legally available on DVD in the US.
