I think the bait + switch cover art killed this movie prematurely

people who picked this film up at the video store had to know they were getting a B movie. i know i did. this movie is surprisingly good for a B movie and even for a horror film.

the problem is the cover (at least the cover i saw) depicts a very cool looking alien monster on the back. i bet many people picked this movie up for that little picture alone. they knew they were getting a B movie; they just didnt know they were getting a zombie movie in place of an alien monster movie. the audiences for both these types of movies may overlap a bit but theres no reason for a fan of one to be a fan of the other.

fortunately i was lucky. ive rented this movie twice. both times for that little alien monster pic. once as a kid and once as an adult (i forgot i saw it over the years). i was so engrossed in the film and its characters, atmosphere and the good performances that each time i completely forgot about the picture till sometime after the movie was over. i felt cheated a little. i understand people feeling cheated. they clearly didnt get the movie they were expecting. but the movie is a solid horror/zombie film for its time. its really a shame that whoever published the movie and/or designed its cover art didnt think it could stand on its own legs. zombie fans and many potential fans of this movie may stay away thinking its an alien movie. and alien fans will feel cheated. all in all i really liked it. its very underrated.

The poster is misleading and so is the title. I bought this movie because I was a fan of Lee Montgomery's other films, but if I bought it based on the poster or title I might be disappointed. But if you ignore those facts, it is a very good movie that is extremely underrated. It is one of my favorite zombie movies of all time. It has a suspenseful, well written story, interesting, likable characters, a good atmosphere, good acting, a great musical score. Everything about it is good to me. I can't see why so many people seem to dislike it. I do think it's because of the title and cover art. But if people can get past that, they might be able to enjoy the film just like I did. I'm glad to hear you feel the same way I do.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.
