Is it me or does this movie have Devil/Angel intentions?
It seems like the booky is the devil and Kim B. and the Judge made a deal with him. It seems like Glen C. is the Angel all dress in white. The lightning hitting the tree.

shareThe devil/angel theme is very obvious in this movie. In fact, it hits you over the head sometimes. All the bad characters wear black; all the good characters wear white. Roy Hobbs is like Jesus, being resurrected, coming back to fight the evil judge and the bookie. The judge likes to sit in darkness because he's evil and he gets mad when Hobbs turns on the lights.
shareMost especially when Iris stands up in the stands, wearing white, with the hat that glows as if it's a halo around her head...
The trivia notes suggest that the story is based somewhat on Homer's Odyssey, with various characters playing different roles from the story.

It is bad to drink Jobus rum. Very bad.share
That is probably the case, and intentionally done by both author and the director of the film.
