This movie bothers me...

They speak english in this movie... I know it's a movie for kids but they should have used subtitles... or at least have Accents... all the people in the movie sound like they're from america.

Ummm the routines that got perfect 10's in real life... are sooo not perfect 10s in the movie... I'm sure i'm not the only one who thinks that either. Toes need to be pointed at all times and legs togeather when on the uneven bars and they should only be separted when it's part of a routine. Usually points get deducted if not doing so.

lol but I liked the movie... I'm not trashing it. It's just when I watched it the few times I did it bothered me all the time.

I completely agree about everyone speaking in an American accent, I think it is very insulting to Nadia and all concerned. As for the routines, I am not an expert in gymnastics and I could say is that no one could expect the routines to be Nadia's standard otherwise she wouldn't have received the perfect 10. I assume that they brought in the best gymnasts that they could along with actors to act the characters. I think we have to cut them some slack there, we could never expect the gymnastics to be of such a high standard.
I think overall it is very well done. You never know, it might be remade one day for the cinema. That would be great. If you had a film company with tons of money to pour into it, you would probably find it would all be excellent but this was probably made on a small budget for TV.

Yes well it's a Hollywood movie, we've seen this happen many times... as for the routines, I think they could've put a little more effort in those details, I mean the gymnast could've done it several times and then they could've edited it to put all the perfect parts together...

I was a competitive gymnast for 12 years, and after watching Nadia's REAL performances, I don't think they deserved perfect tens. So..maybe the acting was right. Judging was way more lenient back when she was doing gymnastics

Yes, because we all know that people from other countries speak English with a foreign accent when they're alone.

Trying to get the actors to fake Romanian accents would have been beyond stupid.

I hate it when movie makers think it makes sense to have characters speak English with an accent when they would be speaking thier native tongue instead. Just have them all speak with their normal voice. Intellegent viewers can understand by the setting that we're in a different country.

It would have been crap-annoying if they hadn't spoken English, for the sake of most of the movie-going world including kids.

"lol" but you liked the movie...but it "bothers" you. How fascinating.

As was already said, it would have been ridiculous to have accents, what would the point have been? It wouldn't have been anymore realistic than having them speak in English, which was obviously done so the target audience in America could understand it. This is quite obvious, as is the fact that "Hollywood" gymnastics is not Olympic gymanstics, and although you speak like you are the big gymnastics expert of all time, I'm sure it wasn't lost on anyone else that the routines in the movie were not as good as Nadia's originals. If they were that easy to duplicate, wouldn't everyone else have been able to get 10's as well? Hmmmmm. Perhaps Nadia was the first movie you have ever seen where every aspect was not 100% true to life, but in the real world, it's not all that uncommon. *rolls eyes*
