Opening credits

I have always loved the black and white pictures they used at the opening of each episode. They were shrewdly chosen as they indicate both idyllic village life together with the secrets and mysteries of the people who inhabit. I would love to know if these pictures have a story/history or of they were just created especially for the programme.

I love them too! I've always just assumed they were created specially for the series.

The first time I watched Cranford and saw the beautiful, quaint diorama used during the opening credits, I was remined of those at the beginning of the Marple films.

I like those opening credits and the music. The two women gossiping outside a shop. The woman on the right of the screen in that shot looks like a really a poisoned gossiper.
