This movie is so much different from the original, it's weird to call it a sequel.

Yes, that would be weird. I don't thnk I've ever heard of a person being called a sequel.

Apparently the original title was "Call Me Meathead", which suggests it probably wasn't intended as a real sequel. They probably just called it Meatballs 2 to cash in on the original.
