Hi nickkarner,

I know it has been six years since your initial post, but in case you may not know by now in 2014, you are in luck. The Criterion Collection recently released Love Streams on dual-format (Blu-Ray/DVD) and solely on DVD. You may also be able to find it on Hulu, given Criterion puts a lot of their titles on Hulu.

Criterion has been trying to release it and it was slated as a future certainty but was stalled late last year in 09 due to "some kind of obstruction", in their words, probably meaning problems with music clearances. I really hope they'll keep working on freeing it up and releasing it, I've read there are problems with the French DVD and I have the old VHS version which has nearly 20 minutes cut from it so I still haven't seen the entire film in the way it's supposed to be seen.

Roeg, only the US VHS has 20 minutes cut, not the French DVD - the VHS I have is only 122 minutes.

Hmm, thanks for the tip, it has been a while since I've watched my copy and I have been really wanting to see it again but was waiting to get the full length version on a bootleg DVD as I assumed that my VHS was the much too cut version as I didn't keep count when I first watched it, I'll watch it again and check the final running time at the end.

Yes, indeed it does run to the proper 140 min., thanks again for letting me know, now I can stop holding my breath for the "full" version to be released, though I would certainly buy the DVD from Criterion who were planning to restore and release it but have now listed it as a stalled ex-certainty due to clearance rights, probably because of the music and the fact that it was an MGM title.

I don't know what the release date was, but it is now available via Criterion. It is a two DVD release (I haven't watched the second one yet), and as with all Criterion releases, the transfer is just flawless.

Watta ya lookn here for?

Yes, but the price for a brand new VHS copy, via Amazon, dropped from $39.99 to $9.99 then $7.99 in the past week. I scoured the Web looking for any information regarding a DVD release (I figured that's why the big price drop), but could find nothing. So, I went old-school and bought one of the VHS tapes. I'm starting to get the feeling that this title won't make it to DVD in my lifetime....
