So aggreviating!

This was horrible! Why did they have to destroy the town??? They just butchered the Little House book series, not only with this episode but all of the last season.

spelling?

aggravating is likely the word that you mean... just like the response to seeing somebody so blatantly misspell such a simple word, seeing as how many dictionaries are online these days. ^^

reply

What are you? The Grammer Nazi?

reply

lmao... in a reply to a post complaining about misspellings, you yourself misspelled grammar... it's grammar. Grammer is the guy who played Frasier.

Since grammar has to do with the word choices and not their spellings you screwed the pooch there, since grammar has nothing to do with misspellings.

Nice try at a burn kid... too bad it blew up in your face.

Seriously though... this medium known as the Internet must be considered the same as if you were turning in a paper for credit in school. If you are IMing your friends, that need not apply, but to post to a public forum - yes, spelling matters. A lot.

If you can't spell simple words, nobody besides other kids with poor spelling will give your ideas the time of day. However, if you can present your post credibly, then people may care to hear what you have to say.

There are always people around who are holier than thou. You really want to cry about spelling on an internet forum? Really? Most people do not use spellcheck when typing in an internet forum message board unless they are burdened with some sort of mental disorder. Then you try to convince us that typing on a forum such as this is as important as turning in a paper for credit in school and state that, "to post to a public forum - yes, spelling matters. A lot." Goodness, you need to get some counseling to deal with your obsessive complusive disorder.

By the way, in your crusade to school others on proper spelling you made an error in grammar. You said:

yes, spelling matters. A lot.

In all honesty, I don't give a ratt's ass about grammar or spelling on this forum as it is not important in any way. However, due to your crusade to be an ass to others I felt it was quite ironic you made the error of writing an incomplete sentence. Rather than saying, "yes, spelling matters. A lot." The proper way to say this would be, "yes, spelling matters a lot." Or you could have said, "yes, spelling matters. In fact, it matters a lot." You see, "A lot." is not a complete sentence. In fact it means absolutely nothing. It does not stand on its own. Would you say to somebody you were talking to, "A lot?" A lot of what? If you were to turn this in on a paper for credit at school you would have red ink all over your paper for such a simple mistake. As you obviously do not understand what constitutes a complete sentence I will tell you. A complete sentence must have at least one main clause. A main clause contains a subject and a verb while expressing a complete thought. By simply writing the words "A lot" you do not have a subject or a verb.

Again, your complete and utter ignorance on how to write is of no consequence to me. In fact, 99% of the people on these boards could not care less about it. However, since you took it upon yourself to be a jackass towards somebody who simply mispelled a word, most likely by accident, I thought your ignorance should be pointed out.

They butchered the book series LONG before the last season. The butchering of the books began during the first season and continued from there, getting worse with each subsequent season. By the point of this movie, the only similarity to the books were a few character names.

To answer your question, they destroyed the town because Michael Landon was upset about the series being canceled and wanted to make sure that the sets could never be recycled for use in another series. He was going to blow the sets up anyway, and a TV movie was written to set that situation up.

reply

In My opinion, the series did not butcher the books. It is like an alternate universe similar to DC Comics Earth 1 & Earth 2. In one universe, you have the Justice Society. In the other, you have the Justice League. Both groups have their own versions of Superman and Wonder Woman. Each group also has characters that are unique to them. The only difference is that unlike DC,the Little House characters can
not travel to each other's universe. Neither (Little House)
unverse knows that the other even
exists.

reply

lol, literally! There's so many LH universes when you think about it. I guess there's an alternate LH universe where they didn't blow up the town and Albert didn't die. He succeeded in becoming a doctor and became the WG doctor. And of course we've got Royal Wilder to think of as well. Royal's wife disappeared or died and his two little boys became a little girl.

I don't take any of it seriously, I snark it lightly and laugh about it. Maybe one day it'll inspire somebody to write a fanfic-- Walnut Grove falls into the Twilight Zone or something. :D

I disagree. tbh I LOVE this movie and thought it was such a bad *ss way to go out. How many shows can you think of that literally went out with a bang like Little House? To this day it remains my FAVORITE series finale of any show I've ever watched. Nothing could top this.
