Reminds me of...
A movie called Manhattan Baby. There's a graphic elevator sequence there that you can watch on youtube. The movie is an awful cut and paste job by Lucio Fulci shooting everything he could while on location in US. But that elevator sequence is what made me check out de Lift, wrongfully assuming it was the movie Fulci ripped off.
