Pickup was great - but...

I can't get over the fact that the title role didn't go to Bekim Fehmiu, who was originally slated to play it.
Not only was he the spitting image of Verdi - his own temperament would have melded perfectly with Verdi's, making this masterpiece even better than it is.

I loved, LOVED this series!
