The Star Car in Back to the Future II

Ok, movie junkies. I'm sure some of you already know about this, so this may be old news. But I just noticed something funny the other day after watching The Last Starfighter and Back to the Future II.

I watched the Last Starfighter again the other day and the next day I watched Back to the Future II. I noticed something funny in Back to the Future II. They actually have a scene with the "Star Car" from the Last Starfighter parked on the street in the background.

Watch Back to the Future II. In the chase scene where Marty is being chased by Griff and his gang. Keep an eye on the row of cars that are parked in the background. The best view of the Star Car comes when there's a Jeep that is about to land. In the background parked, you'll see the Star Car from the Last Starfighter. The other night while watching it I caught that for the first time. The Last Starfighter and the Back to the Future movies were all put out by Universal Studios, so that must have something to do with it.

Here are two clips from both movies from Youtube. You can actually pause each of these to see the car in both movies. :jester:

The Last Starfighter movie trailer, note the Star Car. At 30 seconds you'll see Centauri pull up in the Star Car.

A clip from Back to the Future II. At 7:29 pause it and you'll see to the left of that Jeep which is about to land the Star Car which is parked.

Funny huh?

Great find!

But the star car appears in the BTTF2 clip at: 1:58 and 2:01. At 7:29, it's just Doc and Marty arguing about the alamanac.

cheers

On the BttFII commentary, they mention that they used every futuristic car they could find for the scene.
