Only Enough Room For 3?!?

At the end of the film, when Alex asks Maggie to go back with him to Rylos, he tells her there's only room in the ship for 3 -- Maggie, Grig, and him.

Now that's a romantic way to end the film, however, does this mean that Alex is going to leave his Mom, Louis, and Granny in that grungy trailer park, while he lives in the lap of luxury on Rylos?

Jeez, just send Centauri back in the Star Car to pick the 3 of them up, so they can have a nice life, too!!

Just my 2 cents...

Yeah, they did kind of leave us hanging like that. For such a large ship, they didn't have much extra room.

Then they just leave like they're driving to the next town. Granny says "Write, or whatever it is they do up there."

At the end, Louis is standing at the video game, thinking that, if only he could get just as good as Alex, he can go up into space as well. In fact, the whole trailer park may be thinking along those lines. People would be lined up waiting to play. ("Now, you get good at this video game. This is our one and only ticket out of this godforsaken dump!")

«" For such a large ship, they didn't have much extra room."»

Remember: This was not a passenger ship, it was a war ship. On their scale of things, it would have been comparable to an Air Force fighter jet.

The extra size was the reinforced hull, the considerable armament and armor, plus all of the energy-, particle-, and projectile-weapons that the military of Rylos could build into it.

(Somewhere in the thread, I was asking where they would have put a 3rd person.)

I always thought that if I were Alex, for me to rebuild the legion, the Star League would have to make first contact with Earth.
Heck, they want warriors? We're the right planet to make contact with.
(Something along the lines of what happened in Alan Dean Foster's The Damned series of books.)

Not only that, but: where on that ship was there room for a 3rd person?
Every view of the interior of that spaceship, there appeared to be only the two seats:
• Alex, the Gunner
• Grig, the Navigator

BTW:
They might have been able to ask someone else to pick up their loved ones in a star car, but Centauri appeared to need (considerable) payment for everything he did.
