It just gets better as it ages! BEIGE IS COOL!!!

As a kid, I loved this flick, but avoided it in the 90's as being a cheesefest.

Watched it again lately in HD and LOVED IT!!!

This film is everything an 80's sci-fi flick should have.

What really got me this time watching it was the story: A lot of thought
went into the characters as well as the political intrigue of "Xur" being such
an ass.

This film went from:

1980's - Fun
1990's - Cheese
2010 - A genuinely well written/directed gem of a film, just gets better with each viewing.

My whole childhood comes back watching this film!

I agree 100%. The 80s was a great time to grow up. This movie holds up pretty well despite the archaic SFX. Classic.

That's a side effect of aging and not the movie itself. And a good side effect, too - sometimes we need that distance.
