Sequel could be Ernest Clines 'Armada'

I think there is a strong possibility that 'Ready Player One' author Ernest Cline could be writing the sequal/remake. His new book out next year called 'Armada' has a very similar plot and has already had the filming rights bought by Universal Pictures (who also made The Last Starfighter).

I read a little of "Ready Player One" (Bailed on it for reasons I won't get into here), but it was crammed with 80s references. It's clear that the era informs Cline's work, so doubtless "Armada" may indeed be his answer to TLS-type 80s films. But what is it that makes you feel it's actually a TLS sequel?

I said it could be, but it would be cool if it was. The current synopsis could lead to such a twist in the plot.
