The Last Starfighter remake

Should happen with todays technology w/ CGI (back then this movie sported the best CGI available) the death blossum would like spectacular!

I've been saying for many years that they need to remake this movie sticking w/ the same storyline.

My choice for Alex Rogan is Justin Long. What do ya'll think?

With all the crappy remakes Hollywood makes now-a-days this movie has been and IS a must to do... It'd be hard to turn this into a crappy remake :))

NO!!! I HATE REMAKES!!! YOU ARE SENTENCED TO 2000 HOURS OF WATCHING DR QUINN MEDICINE WOMAN!!!

reply

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Dr Quin, that's funny.

I thought I understood that it was a sequel and not a remake. I could stand to be corrected however. Sequel might work but a remake would be bad.

Lex: And I want a Ponytail, disappointment abounds!

reply

lol... is that evil enough of a punishment.. after all, despite being a very very boring show, Jayne Seymour is a hot milf.

how about being sentenced to watching 2000 hours of Martha Stewart?

muhahaha!

reply

No, scratch that! 2000 hours of watching Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie's The Simple Life! That'll kill some brain cells!

For the 30th Anniversary they are remaking this movie, and yes Justin Long is in talks to do this...Tommy lee Jones with be playing Greig, and Josh Huchinsen is set to play Louis xD with Danny Glover doing otis xD so...its in talks and they're saying that this movie will be twice as long as the original....with omgheug explosions xD

reply

And who are you? And where did you get this info from? Or are you being sarcastic?

I want them to redo all the Starfighter/Space scenes with the new CGI. I mean they did it for E.T. why can't they do it for this great movie. No remakes, just better effects.

I would also enjoy a well written sequel directed by Nick Castle of course.

reply

Gotthug69 you're talking absolute bullcrap.

reply

Totally agree should not be remade just completely remastered and all the special effects CGI scenes re-edited like star wars was. The acting and the characters are unique to the film so keep them. personally I'd like the storyline i've scene on another thread which I hopeto be in the sequel -> "Long story short, Alex is imprisoned on a breathable planet after his Starfighter crashes. It is home to a new nemesis of Rylos. Meanwhile, a new alien who takes over for Centauri finds that someone has the same talent as Alex Rogan and they are now playing the game on Earth. The aliens invade Rylos and Maggie and her child escape to Earth with the new alien to find this new Starfighter and take him back to Rylos. When Maggie finds out this great Starfighter is Alex's brother, Lewis, she convinces him to save his brother. Lewis learns how to become a Starfighter and saves his brother Alex. He is not afraid to face danger anymore." <- sounds good to me. Also bring back Catherine Mary Stewart and Lance Guest as Alex and Maggie, Lewis can be played by somebody new (If I make it to be an actor this is definately the sort of role i could play). All in all could be a fantastic film.

What in the fornicating defecation is wrong with you?
Remake this?
Why don't we just remake The Flight of the NAvigator while we are at it?
What about Explorers?
Let's just throw all of the under rated 80's movies under the bus while we are at it?

A remake of Teh Goonies would be great wouldn't it?
Let's just throw in Miley Cyrus to add appeal.

How about Adventures in Babysitting?
Maybe we can use The JOnas Brothers for that.

A remake of Tron would be great since the first one sucked the underside of a hairy primate.
Who could be in that? I know, I know!
To truly make the money we could put Will Smith in the role and make sure he brings Martin Lawrence with and Michael "Blowed Up Real Good" Bay could direct it and they could rename it Bad Boys 3........

Mule!

(Substitute all of the "harsh" words with the swear words that would correspond with them and you will see my frustration at this pathetic idea of remaking this movie you slow witted, self Grandpa, son of a wanton woman who peddles her wares on intersections at night)

The worst thing that ever happened to movies was REMAKES! I can understand remaking a bad movie, but not ones that were good.

reply

I think they should remake this with all models like the original star wars movies.
You know, go BACKWARDS in Special effects! It was all CGI in 1984, now it can all be miniature models.

Wont that be somethin'

reply

For the love of god, NO. Just let us have a proper 30th anniversary 3-disc release with the original (with remixed 5.1 soundtrack option), updated VFX version and a post-LotR 3.5-hour 'making of', that would be nice.

reply

No not a remake, I count this film as one of my favs growing up as a kid, a remake would be bad.
cant they just leave them alone,
I so hated the redone race to witch mountain.

reply

If they remade it they would TOTALLY mess it up, they would take everything that's good about it out of it...I mean for seriously...how much better can you get than Robert Preston, Lance Guest and the 80's!?!?! DON'T REMAKE IT!!!!

reply

NO remake. The whole appeal is the entire improbability of it happening, and the CGI just makes the point of the improbability. This is one of my favorite movies, just cause it appeals to the idea of doing something special with your life and rising to the moment.

reply

NOOOOOOOOO REMAKE!!!!!

MAYBE a remastered version YES... but HELL NO to a remake!!!

I will personally join up on a thread to prevent it from happening EVER!!
