Lili's Accent

Does anyone know what kind of accent Lili has? I can't figure it out. It sounds like Irish, but not...

reply

I think it's crap.. it changes throughout the series.

Wasn't her father Arabian? I suspect then it may be that mixed with a bit of French. Although on second thoughts I'm SURE it's a Kidderminster accent...

reply

Her father was indeed Arabian (prince Abdullah), but she is raised in France so her accent should be french.

reply

The cadence of it is unusual ~ neither Arabian nor French. It's sorta like she was raised in a mythological country.

Her father was not Prince Abdullah. Since Judy was her mother, her father was Nick Cliff. He was about to get married and he said he had his life was all planned out by his family. I think he was French, maybe English.

you are wrong there DawnZEJ3. If you watch the sequel you discover that Prince Abdullah was indeed the father of Lily. The sequel is really terrible and it claims that Abdullah raped Judy the night of the St. Valentines dance, the same night he takes Pagan's virginity! And I loved Lily's accent, it was very glamourous and mysterious. The accent was a bit vague, it is just European, living in Switzerland, being raised by Hungarians, and later going to France, her accent might sound much like that, a strange mix of diferent dialects.

reply

You got me...I had forgotten what happened on the sequel. Sorry about that.

It was a pretty stupid plot twist, though.

Her accent changes throughout the film. It's a vaguely generic Eurotrash accent, hard to pin down especially since it's not consistent. It reminds me of Marina Sirtis' "accent" as Deanna Troi on Star Trek: The Next Generation, which also was never consistent throughout that series.

All the so called supermodels have those stupid, shifting faux European/US accents now, depending on who they are shagging, who is paying for them, who they are working for etc. Maybe not in 1984, but now every bimbo on the fashion channel sounds a lot like Lili.
