Hey Henry,

According to this source "http://www.jackiechanmovie.com/Doubles/Skateboard.htm"; it says that Chan was doubled for much of the skateboard scenes. If your lazy to go to that URL heres what it says:

"In Wheels on Meals, Chan was doubled for much of the skateboard scenes. Early in the movie, Chan and Biao had arrived in the open square to set up their business. A worthy move performed by Chan in this scene involved somersaulting backwards to avoid a skateboard thrown at him by Biao. The skateboard only missed Chan by inches!

But the scenes following this were heavily doubled by Shigeru Ishihara who also designed the skateboard scenes. Even in the scenes with Jackie, if you look closely at the way Jackie moves, he is actually moving on roller skates. He's probably more at ease with the roller skates rather than a skateboard, having done some stunts with the former in Winners and Sinners made just a year earlier. One unusual though interesting scene had the camera fixed on the actor's legs while he was on the skateboard and what the viewer saw was how the legs moved as the actor skateboarded through the crowd. This kind of "legwork" shot could be seen in the later part of the film on Biao's part when he, Chan and Lola Forner were skateboarding (or flirting?) in the same square after Lola was recruited to become part of their team. I quite liked the kind of nifty footwork that was displayed by Biao (or his double?)."

thanks! although the answer is disappointing.

might have to see Winners and Sinners now, though.

He uses roller skates in Battle Creek Brawl as well.

Yeah, you could tell by the way Jackie was moving that he was on roller skates, not a skateboard.

It just goes to show that even someone as athletic and agile as Jackie has trouble picking up totally new physical skills on short notice.

It's like how tv and movies often show an actor playing basketball. It's rare for anybody who didn't grow up playing basketball to be able to fake it convincingly. Most actors look super goofy when playing sports.

I saw some rare outtakes on youtube, (some really great fight scene ones in there).
But for most of the skatboard scenes with both Chan and Biao it was Jackie messing up all the time where as Biao seemed to be doing ok.
I think Jackie is often doubled for skateboard stuff (city hunter), or he simply where's roller skates and pretends its a board.

did you ever pick your feet in Poughkeepsie?
