I too loved this film as a child...still think it's just adorable! I always thought it was so sweet when she became "a flying flower" and loved all the songs...especially at the end of the first one when she starts with her "whippity pow!" "some day, I'll find out if there is a place for me. A tiny corner in this world I can be..." :) hehe Love it, Love it, LOVE IT! I'd love to have a new good copy for my daughter because she loves butterflies and things now...and I remember that our old copy isn't quite timed right..the sound and the mouth movements are a good second or two off...(taped from tv)...but that doesn't affect the overall cuteness!

I used to love this movie as a kid as well. I'm surprised myself to learn it's a Spanish-language film orginally. I've been trying to locate certain old animated movies I used to watch. This is one. There is a series of Alice-in-Wonderland-type movies set in Australia about a girl who would shrink or grow and could talk to the animals. I think it was only partially animated. If anybody could help me with the titles of these movies, I'd appreciate it.

This was my favorite movie as a kid, too! I lived in Germany so my parents taped this for me in the states so I would have something to watch besides German TV. So,I watched it ALL the time! I wish I could find that tape, but I think it is lost. I might look into getting one of the bootleg DVDs, just cause I have not seen this movie since I was about 5 years old, and I'm 22 now! I thought it was Disney, too, because I think my parents had taped it off the Disney channel. I just remember it being really 80's, like the part where they go to the club... and I remember feeling the suspense when they were in the tomato canning factory. I miss this movie! WHY do they not have it on DVD?? Same with the Wonder Years...

Hello !! .. I Was Just being Curious and reading this comments about this film, cause I was one of the interested in getting it and I'll tell you what, IT WAS SO HARD TO GET IT !! ( I got the ones on ebay ) BUT its original version is in spanish, it is a 1983 or 1984 Mexican animation originally named " KATY LA ORUGA " and that's how I first watched this movie in MEXICO waaay back when .. ha ha ha ( I Was 4 or 5 years old )and YUP !! IT IS MEXICAN ( Check the credits ) and While I was trying to find it I just found out that it was released in the U.S.A and many other Countries and It had a Name in ENGLISH, "KATY THE CATERPILLAR", and also I didn't Know that It was released in 13 different languages. I still have a copy from my Auntie's BETA TAPE to VHS on its original version ( in spanish ) , but it is gettig REALLY OLD and I so wanted to get it ON DVD ( that lasts forever .. well ... olmost )and pass it on to the new family generations now that new babys are coming to the family and my friends kids too. I wanted them to have it before their kids get contaminated with the cartoons they play on TV now on days ... Every time I watch this movie again, I see how old it is, the graphycs and stuff, but hey.. it is 22 or 23 years OLD !! And it is still a BEATIFUL STORY !! and most of all IT HAS A GREAT POSITIVE MESSAGE !!!

Well, almost 9 years after you asked this question, your answer is the Dot movies. I remember Dot and Keeto. There is also one with a koala. We found a box of old tapes and the VCR and we are watching Katy right now. Hope we find Dot and Keeto too :-)

This is gonna sound really weird... but was Katie's best friend like... a field mouse or something?!

I would love to get a copy of this video. It was my favourite movie when i was little. You know how little kids have that one video they're parents put on to occupy them?! This was my one!!

Heehee, I remember this. It was also the video my mum would put on to 'babysit' me when I was 5 or 6. All I can remember about this film is that Katy was friends with a mouse, and in one part she gets a broken button or something from some kind of swindling insect. And a tomato factory near the end. Random, haha. I seriously don't remember anything else about this, but I really liked it for some strange reason.
