I came to IMDB looking for a movie about the Jesse Owens story and found they are making a new one this year, starring Anthony Mackie. I'd never heard of this one. I might just have to check it out sometime! :)

Hmm....this movie was ok. In fact, it was rather sad.

Jessie Owens was a lot like Joe Louis in that he was an American sports hero who did so much for this country, but, because he was a black man living in a then racially segregated society, he was squat on as a reward. What's even sadder is that Owens, like Louis, also was dissed by his own people during the revolutionary 1960s as an "Uncle Tom," because of his naive devotion to a racist country.

It was truly sad how black athletes during Owens' day, as well as blacks in general, were treated like they were, despite of all they did for American society.

I saw this when I was a kid during the '80s---hopefully the new movie about Jesse Owens,RACE, will get people more interested in seeing this one, if it's on DVD,hopefully.
