Is The Invisible Strangler also The Blue Man?

I think that this movie could have been the inspiration for a 1985 movie that I've read about called 'The Blue Man' AKA 'Eternal Evil', which is about a bored TV Executive who is taught by a strange woman to astrally project himself while sleeping and soon learns that while 'out-of-body', he is harming those who have wronged him in the past.

I've never seen 'The Blue Man' but from your plot description they might have gotten their idea from 'Forbidden Planet' made in 1956. In that movie Walter Pidgeon lives on another planet and uses an alien artifact to boost his brain power. Whenever he sleeps he creates an invisible monster which kills anyone his subconscious sees as a threat.
