It's not hard really. Landing is tougher...
The differences is that you don't steer with the "wheel", you steer with your feet (rudder). The wheel controls the roll of the airplane (turn the yoke left and right) as well as the altitude (pull and push yoke).
You would also need to remember to put the flaps down to land and get a feel for the way the plane kind of hits a cushion of air right before it touches down.
There have been people who never piloted an airplane successfully (more or less) land a small plane when the pilot became incapacitated.
